Our June Update

I don’t typically do updates here on the blog but it’s been a long time, and I hate for things to look out of date.

The world is a strange place right now. I am still processing and learning and growing as I live through this pandemic, but also through a civil rights movement. I’m not sure about you, but it’s taking up a lot of my emotional energy.

I’ve talked to a lot of people about how it’s so important during this time to take good care of yourself. I’ve always been a big tea-drinker, but I make a cup of tea pretty much every evening now. I spend more time in my garden, with my hands in the soil. Tending to the garden feels like a labour of love. It’s also key to support the ones that support you. Many of you have been sending surprise self-care boxes and pulling together care-packages for your friends and family. You’ve really inspired me with the sweet messages you ask me to write in their cards.

Over the past few months. The Sage Soap Company has turned into a home-delivery business. It’s been amazing in so many ways but challenging in others. I’ve had to pivot the business model and work differently. Over the past month, I have made the most soap I ever have in one month. Previously, I’ve made a lot of soap particularly to serve busy Christmas holiday markets, but I usually prep over the course of three months. Once I think I’ve caught up, I’m behind again. Although, it’s a real blessing to have the opportunity to grow this business.

Next week, I’ll be launching our summer line. It’s something that I’ve been working on for a while now with local Guelph artist Jenna Kessler. It feels good for this to finally come to fruition. I’m just working on a few details (i.e. a photoshoot). I’m hopeful that I will be able to extend this line to different cities. It’s a beautiful collaboration, so stay tuned!

I’ll also be launching a collaboration that I did with Manorun Farm, just outside of Hamilton. It’s the most sustainable soap that I’ve ever created, but it also went outside of my comfort zone with it. I’m excited and nervous to launch it because it’s not 100% in line with my regular brand, but it was important for me to expand my horizons. This soap will be available next week at their farm store and on our online shop.

Finally, we have a few new stockists. First up is Upmarket KW coming in July to Belmont Village and likely coming this month to Zocalo Farm’s farm store in Hillsburgh, ON.

Thank-you for your support.

Take care of yourselves,

Carly
