There is something special to us about yarrow and lavender. They are both herbs that you can grow and gather in and around Ontario, and we grow both in our garden. We also source lavender locally from Tullamore Lavender and we wild forage lavender, because it often grows on the side of the road!
Yarrow is great bush medicine. You can turn it into a tea or a poultice, tincture, butters or an oil. Yarrow is a powerful topical wound healer and can stop bleeding immediately. It’s analgesic properties will help with pain relief, and it’s antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory properties help keep the wound free of infection (Gray, 2011).
We are a big fan of lavender. It’s one of the most commonly used essential oils in our products. The benefits of the plant are endless and it’s been used for hundreds of years in home first aid kits and in aromatherapy.
For this soap we used dried lavender buds and yarrow flowers directly in the soap mixture. It’s scented with lavender, bergamot and neroli essential oils. It’s smells floral and comforting.
